St. Nicholas

Jupiii today is St. Nicholas Eve, don’t forget to put the dish with your name on the table :)
When I was a child I believed in St. Nicholas. On this evening I was very anxious. My dad clanked one's chains and I think the devils and St. Nicholas are near :) When I grew older I always act devil part on performance for children in our village :)
Here is one interesting story about St. Nicholas.

The story about St. Nicholas began in Asia in 350. Saint Nicholas (Nikolaj, Miklavž) was at that time a bishop, who liked to help people and bring gifts for good children and for people with good hearts.
The story started to develop and every year more and more people began to believe that St. Nicholas really existed. At that time families were quite big, with lots of kids. They usually lived in poor conditions (especially after the war). A week before Saint Nicholas arrival all the children were very anxious. They had to behave and also to pray before going to bed, so Saint Nicholas would hear them and bring them many more things. The day before ( on 5th December) kids left their plates on the window sills inside the window. They went to bed early as they were convinced that otherwise he wouldn’t get any presents. Saint Nicholas was bringing presents only during the night. He came inside the house through the chimney. In the morning, when kids woke up, they found apples, nuts, sometimes there were also candies, cookies and oranges or some coins on their plates. But there was always a stick too, which was blessed and it should not be broken before the next Saint Nicholas arrival.
Kids never saw Saint Nicholas, but they knew his image from the photos of a bishop. In the past St. Nicholas walked around alone. Today he is usually followed by little angels or devils.

Some interesting blogs

I found some interesting blogs to my taste :) So here I´ll write down something about those which I think are worth seeing. I know that if I were surfing the web more often, I would find many interesting blogs.

The thinking blog – Power your brain
Just title says a lot. The thinking blog is where some guy writes about things, which come to his mind and also to mine... Here are a lot of all kinda interesting topics from topical theme, computer topics, nature, history, psychology... He said: “The Thinking Blog is where I write about things that I like, find useful, and ONLY stuff that I feel is worth sharing. It is about many of the topics that make me think!” Some I also share in my google reader (Tjasa´s shared items).

Sweet pixels
Blog of Alaskan artist Erro. I like her paintings and all stuff which she has published on this blog.
I like her style of writing posts. Her blog seems so warm and friendly.

True to myself

A true friend has no price...

This is beautiful song about friendship!
Thank you my friend!

BLOOD BROTHERS - MANOWAR

When the world turns you away
A friend will not say no
There is strength that we all have
It’s not the strength we show

And in your darkest hour
In your darkest nights
Whatever life will do
I am here for you

Think of me wherever you are
When it seems like you’re reaching the end
Call on me, know in your heart
On one you can always depend
I am thy friend

Though we’re far away
The stars above are the same
And when you feel alone
There’s one who shares your pain

A true friend has no price
There is none to pay
I remember you stood by me
I’m with you all the way

Think of me wherever you are
When it seems like you’re reaching the end
Call on me, know in your heart
One who will always defend
I am thy friend

Think of me wherever you are
When it seems like you’re reaching the end
Call on me, know in your heart
On one you can always depend
I am thy friend

Think of me wherever you are
When it seems like you’re reaching the end
Call on me, know in your heart
One who will always defend
I am thy friend

Halloween

I didn’t know that Halloween originated from the Pagan festival Samhain, which celebrated among the Celts of Ireland and Great Britain. Irish and Scottish immigrants carried versions of the tradition to North America in the nineteenth century. I always thought that Halloween originated from America. Now it seems like American holiday!
Many European cultural traditions, in particular Celtic cultures, hold that Halloween is one of the times of the year when spirits can make contact with the physical world, and when magic is most potent. It sounds very mystically :)
I don’t celebrate Halloween, but sometimes I carve out some pumpkins with my nephew. Do you?

The Truth About Aerial Hunting of Wolves in Alaska

I cannot watch this! This is insane! I love animals, specially wolfs are marvelous to me. These creatures are so beautiful, smart...
This reminds me on my Siberian husky. She was so sweet and beautiful, with blue eyes, but one day she run away and one hunter killed her. She was only one year old. He knew from who was. I will never forget that! I hate hunters! This people are malicious, except some (which are very rare) who take care for animals. Why this hunters not use their own feet and confront wolfs face to face! Shame on these coward hunters!!!
What we can do? We can take care of our animals and support organizations like this; www.wolfsongalaska.org

For those who touched my heart

In my life I have meet some people, which were very special for me. I don’t know why, but I felt very close to them. It` s seems that some people just walk into our lives at the very specific moment in life and with a certain purpose.
But it seems they were only beautiful shooting stars in my life. They are gone... I lost contact with them. I remember them these days. Are they happy...? I wish I could know...

First snow :)

Yesterday I looked trough the window and... unbelievable... it was snowing. It was such a nice feeling! Snowflakes were flying from the sky to the ground and in a few hours the land was covered in white.
I live in almost 900 m above sea level. I'm a mountain girl :) that's how some friends of mine from Ljubljana call me.
I remembered the time when Stella cousin of my dad from Argentina was here (at my home) . It was also October. Her wish was to see the snow in Slovenia but we said that is a little hard to satisfy that wish in this month. But one morning after her wish came true! She was soooo happy. I will never forget that! :)
Why the first snow gives us such joy and warm feelings… I love winter and snow and skiing and… :) I can't wait… :)

My first internet experience

I don’t remember exactly when I started using the internet. I suppose it was in high school. We had a practice (graphic programs) on computer and I think I was 2nd class. My first e-mail account was on hotmail.
Once by chance I run across this chat room, and then I started using the messenger (msn). I met some rally nice people on internet.
It’s great you can keep in touch with friends wherever you are.
All this technology is very interesting for me and I can’t believe how all this computer technology can work to our benefit. Now we can pay our bills over the internet. You just sit in your armchair and you don’t have to go out and wait in line… It’s amazing!

The Notebook

Today I remembered this wonderful book, which I read a long time ago, but I never forgot the story about life's brief duration and eternity of love…
For me this is a very impressive and touching story.
This book has got me thinking… what is really the important thing in life.
Please read it. You won’t regret it!
Also here is a movie, which (of course) is not as good as a book?

About me :)

Hi, I´m Tjaša, (for the stranger is this name a little unusually, it sounds like Russian name Nataša :)) I live in a small village. Around my house is beautiful nature and when I’m looking through the window I see the forest which is in autumn full of magic colors.
For ten years I was in Ljubljana, where I visited a secondary school and professional collage of graphic design. I moved from Ljubljana and now sometimes I’m missing Ljubljana and my friends! (Some friends of mine stay there).
I’m simple, (mostly) happy person. I’m trying to think positive and you know; “Always look on the bright side of life”
I like dancing, good music, reading books, climbing, skiing... My dreams are traveling around the world and be successful in life... as a designer, as a partner and as a mother...I wish I could do the things which makes me happy :)
